Playing with Marbles and Glass

Here's a quick peek at what I'm playing with these days, because quilting, at least for me, should always feel playful.  I'm trying not to take this new series too seriously as I experiment with how glass and light play together, while sorting out contrast and value.  I've added a gray wash of Inktense water soluble colored pencil to the background to separate it from the table's surface.  This piece is still in progress.  You can see the before image, where the table and the blue marble blend into the background, and the after pic, where I've added shading with the wash and stitching, while also adding white highlights with thread.  More pics coming up soon!  This small quilt is based on a photo, and all the pieces are fused before stitching.  It's still pin-basted too, but the quilting should go fast because the final size is only 24" x 24".
